The Best Ways To Keep A Delivered Pizza Warm

Posted on

If you order pizza and you won't be eating it right away, one of the annoyances is that your pizza might be cold before it is finally time to enjoy it with friends and family. Fortunately, there are many ways that you can do this.

A Simple Phone Call

Don't overlook simple solutions such as contacting the pizza delivery man. Ask for the pizza delivery to be delayed 30 minutes. Call as early as possible so you do not catch the delivery man when he is already delivering the pizza. The pizza can be kept in an oven at the restaurant until it is time to deliver it.

Ovens

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the pizza box arrives, you should open the box to allow steam to escape. Find the cut-out vents and punch through them so that the pizza box will not allow steam to build up. You may find that the particular box does not have such holes, so use a paring knife to cut holes in the corners of the box. Then, place the pizza box in the oven and close the door. Most importantly, reduce the temperature to the lowest setting to prevent the pizza box from becoming too hot. The great thing about using an oven is that it will not cause your crust to become hard like a microwave.

Towels

If you do not have an oven, your only option is to insulate the pizza. Again, allow the steam out by popping the vent holes. Then, wrap the pizza in a towel. Wrapping a second towel over the pizza box will further insulate it. However, this approach will not keep the pizza warm as long as using an oven.

Pizza Bags

For whatever reason, you may need to transport the pizza yourself. For instance, you might pick up the pizza yourself. One way to keep pizza warm and transport it somewhere else, especially on a cold day, is to purchase pizza bags. These will keep your pizza insulated so that the heat does not radiate from the pizza.

Reheating

If you will have to wait much longer than expected, your only option might be to place the pizza in the fridge and reheat it later. The pizza is best reheated by placing it in an oven at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes. The great thing about this approach is that you can always toss additional toppings on.
